ALT.com is free to join. You can chat, send instant messages, and browse through the worldwide database of alt personals. You also have access to the interactive magazine where you can post or answer advice questions or post poetry and articles. There's plenty to do as a standard member!
The Love Dog service at ALT.com alternative personals allows you to select a variety of personal characteristics that you're looking for in a person, and the site will then notify you via weekly emails of new ALT.com members who match your preferences. In other words, you will receive prompt notification of new alt personals without having to visit the site every day to look for them yourself.
Hotlist is a list of alternative personals members whom you are interested in. It maintains a link to their profile page. ALT.com members browsing the alternative personals will notice that every profile has a button on it that says, "Add to Hotlist". Clicking on this button will add that member to your Hotlist. You can later remove people from your Hotlist by clicking on the "Delete" checkbox next to their name, then clicking on the "Update you Hotlist" button.
The Alternative Personals Relationship Magazine is unique in that it relies on ALT.com members, for its exciting and very interactive content. Not only can you read the interesting articles, but you can add your own and respond to those of others! You are encouraged to enter articles and respond to advice line questions. There are two ways that you can search the alt.com database: by handle or by preferences. If you are looking for a specific alternative personals member and you remember their Handle, enter it in the "Handle" field at the top of the Search Page. If you are not looking for a specific person, but rather someone who matches a description you give, then use the second form on the Search Page, which allows you to describe the kind of person you are looking for. You can search alternative personals by almost any category of information that they keep track of, including sex, location, languages spoken, etc.
